Making great stuff and having fun at the same time - the very first hackathon at Synergy Codes

At the end of the July, we held our very first 24-hour hackathon in the history of Synergy Codes. We all agreed that it was mostly about having fun, but also about not being afraid to fail if we learn some new things on the way. A hackathon means nothing but a real coding marathon (typically a 24-48 hour event) for software developers and other people indirectly involved in software development. This codefest gives them a possibility to collaborate, to exchange ideas, compete and, above all, to deliver new solutions for which coders usually lack time on a daily basis. What’s the best thing about hackathons? You can have fun, challenge yourself and create really crazy stuff at the same time!

"Ho ho ho! Have you been good this year?" - Christmas Eve 2015

Every year at about the same time our office turns into a place where we gather around to pause for a moment and reflect. Christmas Eve supper is the most important celebration of the year and is normally reserved for the closest family. However, we decided to start Christmas together in a family-like atmosphere shortly before the real celebration at our homes.

Autumn Awayday at FreeFly Center- sometimes it's nice to fly away from reality

Kasia: One would think that organizing the awayday for our Synergy Coders is the easiest part of my job, but I could not disagree more! Well, it is the most satisfying part (mainly due to their smiling faces after the event), however that was going to be far from simple. I gathered around me a team of people to whom the word ‘fun’ means something entirely different than to the rest of the world. There was one thing I was sure of - the chosen attraction had to be unique and memorable. From the very beginning I knew that a trivial game of paintball or a day spent in a waterpark wouldn’t be exciting enough for our Synergy Coders. I prepared a short survey and started with a small research among team-members. The results of a survey brought more and more confusion because their suggestions were more than contrary. After a thousand moments of searching for a perfect headliner, my choice finally fell on something that, hopefully, was supposed to be a new experience for everyone. I decided to take them on a trip to Leszno, so as they could try their hands (and other parts of their bodies) at flying in the wind tunnel.

Thursday Night LAN Party - the short story about falling in love with game competitions

As Synergy Coders are known as those who enjoy spending time together, we planned to organize the very first LAN party in the office, hoping it will become the new tradition. Undoubtedly, we had a hard nut to crack by selecting the perfect multi-player game that could meet everybody’s expectations. Finally, playing some rounds of Call of Duty 2 brought back memories from our school years.

Synergy Codes Software House Awakening

First of July was an important day for the team, as we were celebrating the development of our new company identity with two new Synergy Trainees on board. For two months we were working on introducing our new brand: Synergy Codes, followed by launching our new website. I was honoured to coordinate that breakthrough process from the phase of generating ideas to bringing them to life. Therefore, it was time to summarize the results of the change and everyone’s contribution to it. During the presentation, followed by Q&A session, everything was explained and no question was left unanswered.
